In addition, it sponsors the National Labor College Scholarship, which grants awards to union members who attend the George Meany Center for Labor Studies — National Labor College in Silver Spring, MD.

The Union Plus Free Scholarship Search has a database that describes more than 3,700 scholarships worth over $3.1 billion in awards.

The APWU awards 10 scholarships each year - five academic scholarships and five vocational scholarships - to the children and grandchildren of APWU members.

The E.C. Hallbeck Memorial Scholarship awards recipients $4,000 to apply towards their four-year college tuition.

Vocational Scholarship winners receive $3,000 for specialized training in a three-year program. The scholarships are open only to high school seniors.

Postmarked by March 1 and received by March 15 each year is the standing deadline for the APWU to receive completed applications. Click this link for online Scholarship Rules and Application (in pdf format).

Transferring Among Unions

There is a Reciprocal Agreement among the APWU, NALC, NPMHU, and NRLCA Unions. To avoid unintended multiple dues withholding, please download this pdf Handbook and follow the instructions that apply to you.

Thank you Denise for your informative article.

What's in your file?

So, have you checked your personnel file lately? Some employees may never have seen their personnel records. The Postal Service has now put all of your files online, so you no longer have to file a request to see your records.
You will need your employee identification number and your pin number, if you have forgotten it you will need to call 1-877-477-3273 to request a new one.
From a non-postal computer you can access your personnel file from the USPS liteblue website. You will need to type in your employee identification number and pin to access the liteblue website and again after choosing eOPF.
Don't just look once, you should check your records at least once a year for any mistakes or discipline that should have been removed.

If you do find any problems, speak to your union steward.
